On this day, 15 years ago, I was two blocks from The White House when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93.
I was on a business trip. Although I was working as an associate facilitator on a team project for the Assembled Chemical Weapons Assessment with the Department of Defense, on this particular trip I was supposed to meet with Capitol Hill staffers about a national energy forum. My family didn’t know if I was at the Pentagon or not.
My heart still breaks for the citizens of our country who were injured or lost their lives as a result of those horrific attacks. I pray for their families.
While we must observe this occasion with respect, solemnity and gravity, we must also emphasize the virtues that we honor as Americans and teach those to our children. Be proud to be an American!
I am extremely grateful for our nation’s first responders and military men and women. Their bravery and service allow us to stand next to our fellow Americans with rights and privileges not afforded to the citizens of other countries.
It’s important our children know these virtues of truth, freedom, and courage. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and a little longer.
Let’s work together to protect our country’s greatness.
God bless America!
