Finding the right Mother’s Day gift can be a huge challenge. Team Momiverse is made up of busy Moms just like you, so we put our heads together to come up with our best picks for Mother’s Day gift ideas (based on our own wish lists). Whether you want to drop these hints to your spouse (maybe leave this article open on the computer or print and circle!), or use them for your own amazing Mom, there’s something here for any personality or budget.
Gifts from the heart, not the wallet
Sleeping in – Need we say more? We really don’t need to, but seriously, have dad or another family member take the kids out for breakfast after they wake up followed by a trip to the park. Let Mom snooze until the cows (or in this case – the kids) come home.
Day of beauty – What Mom wouldn’t want a spa day, either at home or at an actual spa. So depending on budget, the kids can paint her toes while hubby gives her a massage (or he can save that for when the kids are in bed – baum-chicka-baum).
Queen for a day – Mom does it all, but on this day, let her do nothing. Serve her breakfast in bed. Do the laundry. Wash the dishes. Make dinner. Give her a break from any “chores” and let her enjoy being the Queen.
Homemade art – Always the hands-down winner. Get the kids to paint her a picture, make her a clay handprint, dip their feet in paint and sign it, write a card, etc. Personalized creations always mean the most.
Quiet time – Mother’s Day doesn’t have to mean everyone spends the whole day together. Why not take the kids out for a couple of hours and let Mom be at home by herself. She can read, nap, watch TV or just relax and do whatever she wants without hearing “MOM!” every five minutes.
Gifts from the wallet (and the heart)
On a budget
Andalou Naturals Get Started Age Defying Kit – Now that summer is quickly approaching, we can all use a summer lift! This skin care kit uses Fruit Stem Cell Science that renews skin at the cellular level, blending nature and knowledge for visible Age Defying results and contains five skin care essentials for Dry & Sensitive Skin. Help get Mom ready for a fun summer.
Photo frame – Take a family photo and give it to Mom in a frame that shows what she means to you. This is something she can put on her desk at work, home office or bedside table to remind her what’s most important and who loves her the most.
Note card set – As busy Moms, we love (and need) our tech gear, gadgets and apps as much as the next Apple programmer, but with too much technology, we can lose the personal connections we crave. You make others feel special when you send a handwritten note. We particularly like all the personalized Thank You Notes from TinyPrints. Maybe Mom will even use them to send you a ‘thank you.’
Herb Keeper – Our Moms love cooking with herbs and this herb keeper from Crate and Barrel will help keep them lasting crisp and green longer than mere refrigeration by immersing the stems in water.
A little more spending money
Babycakes dessert makers – You know your Mom better than we do, so you can decide which of the many Babycakes machines she’ll like best. There are many to choose from including machines to help make cake pops, cupcakes, donuts, pies, pie pops, waffles, whoopie pie and a chocolate dipper perfect for melting chocolate, decorating cake pops, making candies and more. Drop lots of hints so she ends up making you some tasty treats with her new gift. Better yet, grab one (or more) for yourself. No matter which machine you choose, we’re certain you can’t go wrong.
Personalized cutting board with your favorite recipe – We found this beautiful cutting board on Etsy by Taylor Crafts. We love the idea of sharing a favorite recipe with Mom and in a clever place she will always see. After all, she’s the one who taught us how to cook.
Hand-stamped jewelry – These charming necklaces by Lisa Leonard Designs will help keep your family close to your heart. We are particularly fond of the necklaces which can include the names of each member of your family. And we love that Lisa Leonard is a Mom!
Meal planning subscription – Mother’s Day comes just once per year, but think about how much work Mom does all year long to feed her family. Make Mom’s life easier by giving her some help with planning meals each week. We recommend eMeals and four other sites that will save Mom (or you) time, energy and money.
Sky’s the limit
Kindle Fire HDX – Moms are on the go. Lugging around a laptop or being glued to a desktop computer isn’t always practical, so give Mom a Kindle Fire on which she can view photos, video, email and social media and read books, listen to music, or even get work done.
BefoRE Sun skin care set – With summer approaching and because May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, you’ll be happy that this set includes a Damage Control Water Resistant Sunscreen (SPF 30) and a Lip Saver Sunscreen (SPF 30). Thinking you or Mom look a little pale after this past winter? Add some healthy color to your skin without harmful sun exposure or tanning salons with Made in the Shade Self-Tanner (SPF 15) and Glow With It After Sun Lotion. We love Arbonne International products because they are botanically based and free from harmful ingredients. We order all our products from Moonhee Bischof, Area Manager with Arbonne International. (Side note: After a career as an engineer, she became a stay at home Mom and now works from home. Moonhee took one year off after the birth of her third child and still made an income during that time!)
Kodak Pulse wi-fi digital frame – Sharing family photos just got easier. You can avoid printing pictures and buying numerous frames. Simply send digital photos to Mom instantly from your phone or computer by creating a custom email address for the frame. The frame comes in both 10-inch and 7-inch sizes. A gadget that simplifies our lives and allows us to share cherished photos? Brilliant. Learn more about how the Kodak Pulse digital frame works.
Of course, Mom will love whatever you get her.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and yours from all of us here at The Momiverse!
